Hi Joe, Welcome to Review Zoo
Firstly, Where are you guys from/based?
We are all from different parts of London, but the main base is Shepherds Bush.
How was the band formed?
Myself and Angus have played in bands for years now and, the band we played in previously called it a day.
We spoke for a while wondering what we wanted to do and if we wanted to do something how would it sound.
Fast forward a few years and here we are!
How did the name “Urne” come about?
We had a few names going around and we wanted to have URN, but that name was already taken.
Someone said we should use the spelling that most other languages use..so that is what we did.
Please can you tell us about your most recent album which has recently been released, “A Feast On Sorrow”?
I think this is most direct and honest music that myself and Angus have written together.
We were extremely lucky to travel to America to record with Joe Duplantier of Gojira.
How was the summer for you guys? What were the highlights?
It is always a great feeling travelling to different countries to play shows.
We got to do that a number of times, we also got to support Gojira on a number of shows this summer. A life highlight!!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spare time? I miss that!
What are your favourite albums of all time?
Metallica - …And Justice For All.
Killswitch Engage – Alive Or Just Breathing?
Nevermore – This Godless Endeavour.
If you had to choose one “Urne” song which best represents your sound to new listeners, which song would you choose?
For me it would be the song A Stumble of Words, from our new album.
Do you have any funny tour stories you can share with us?
Honestly, being in a band with Angus and James always presents me new funny (Some say stressful) moments!
I really couldn’t highlight one moment, but there is always great joy when Angus happens to miss load out..
Is there anything you’d like to plug, mention or any shout outs?
Please check out both of our records and also, if you have a clear December please head out and see us on our first UK headline tour.
